Politics of Efficient Administration
EVERY member of the organization expects high moving moral and physical forces of the laws within the square peg of the administration. Executives must be keen observers of the social structure of the organization, the politics of administration and the ethics of public service.
In any organization the people are involved consciously or unconsciously from the groups, based on certain properties and interrelationships such as goals, standards or norms, codes of behavior, cliques and sub-groups, natural leadership of their own, lines of authority and communication, traditions and rules.
The administrator should distinguish between authority and leadership. Leadership can be shared by the manager who has a real respect for others and who is emotionally secure. An effective leader necessarily has his plans outlined and makes them known to the subordinates. A practical and comprehensive program of work must be prepared before embarking on the project.
The ethics of public service is influenced by several elements prevailing at any given time. Ethic means morality of the actions of the leaders. The highest standards for public morality and ethics demand that a public official should refuse the valuable considerations offered and denounce bribers leading to their prosecution and conviction.
Considering today’s complex problems of administration and supervision, it is but imperative that executives in key positions should have a keen appreciation and understanding of the politics of administration, factors that influence administrative leadership. Administrative leadership is the ability to direct and guide an organization to its maximum operational efficiency. Fabielyn Rose G. Baguista
