New PRO – COR chief vows enforcement of anti crime drive

-

POLICE Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza assumed the leadership of Police Regional Office Cordillera following the promotion of outgoing regional director Elmo Francis Sarona.

Carranza, during the turn – over ceremony assured members of PRO-COR of the continuity of the programs instituted under the leadership of Sarona.

"There are no changes in the orders given by General Sarona or the Chief PNP but instead, we will just reinforce measures on what programs needs reinforcement or supplementation," Carranza said.

Carranza's challenged police to prove their worth in wearing the uniform, and in the performance of their

mandate as policemen.

"Just like my sons whom I have challengeD if they are worthy to be called a Carranza, are our policemen in Cordillera worthy of wearing the uniform? If not, then there is a need for them to re-examine themselves and review on how to better themselves as a person," Carranza stressed.

Carranza reiterated the need for the police force to address the problems caused by syndicated crime groups, private crime groups or other armed elements affecting the normal way of life of the people.

"Being members of PMA ‘Sinagtala’ Class of 1986, the Chief PNP, General Sarona and I being cadets were resistant to decisions before that are oppressive. And my message to our men and women of PRO-COR is those that are oppressing should be addressed properly in order not to oppress the people’s rights, which is also the message of the President to put a stop to those who are oppressing the poor," Carranza added.

The newly assigned a regional director was head of the PNP's Health Services Division before assuming Cordilleras Top Cop position.

Sarona meanwhile will be the director for Investigation and Detective Management of the PNP in Camp Crame. Jonathan Llanes
