Homecoming

- An alumni

HAVE you attended homecoming? Was it for your high school class or for your college class?

Which one was more sentimental? Which was more touching? If you could have attended only one, which one would you have attended?

meet my college friends occasionally and have them on a viber group. Unfortunately, I don’t have a viber group for my high school batchmates. I know both have Facebook groups. But because I don’t have an FB account, I am out of touch through that means. Maybe, just maybe, when I retire, I might get myself an FB account, just to be in touch. I know social media does take up a lot of time, and some do get “addicted” to it, so let me think about it, when the time comes.

Personally, I feel that high school reunions are more sentimental and more touching. Do you wonder why?

We were in high school during our early teens and most of us had our first dates during those times. We had numerous dance parties, too. Good and clean fun.

They were carefree times, and growing up during those years have filled me with fond memories. Most of them were fun times, but we did some naughty things, too. Countless memorable incidents happened during my high school days.

A good number of my batchmates will be coming in from the States. I would say around 25% of them migrated at various times after college.

With a number of them checking in at Hotel Veniz Session with their spouses, I am eager to see them even before the Welcome Dinner at Hotel Veniz Burnham at 5 p.m. this Friday.

Some of them, I have not seen for 50 years. We have all grown from teenagers to “LAKAYS”, “TANGS”, AND “LOLOS”. I just hope they will still recognize me!!!

We would certainly need big name tags… big enough to be read by failing eyesight and hindered by poor recollection of names and faces.

Except for 2 batchmates who I know are in wheelchairs, I hope no one else needs them; perhaps, just walking canes. Balding scalps or whitened hair will be aplenty. So it will be a great time poking fun at one another.

Aside from celebrating life and reminiscing good times, I look forward to prayer time; worshiping God in fellowship and thanksgiving, for the many blessings we have all received in the last 50 years!

Yes, I look forward to the 50th Golden Jubilee reunion of our SLU Boys’ High Batch “68, with our teachers as guests, this coming Friday, January 26, to January 28.
