Roque lauds Baguio’s tourism efforts
PRESIDENTIAL spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. acknowledged the importance of the country’s Summer Capital in its contribution to the tourism industry.
Roque added President Rodrigo Duterte has vowed to support the city’s development in terms to lure more tourists with easier access to Baguio City.
"The President acknowledges the importance of tourism, and because of this, he acknowledges the very importance of Baguio City because in truth, no other place have beaten Baguio City when it comes to tourism," Roque relayed.
Roque was the guest of honor and speaker during the opening of the Baguio Flower Festival.
Roque announced the government’s initiatives particularly on the implementation of free tuition fee for all state universities and col-
leges, the free medical treatment and medicines, the free irrigation program for Cordillera farmers, while acknowledging the region’s bid for an autonomous region under a federal state.
Meanwhile, Apolinario Mabini Elementary School will join seven others in the elementary division for the drum and lyre and street dancing competitions during the Grand Float and Street parade of February 24 and 25.
The defending champion will be joined by Baguio Central Elementary and Tuba Elementary School.
Other schools who will join the magic eight are Doña Josefa Carino Elementary School, Aguinaldo Elementary School, Dominican-Mirador Elementary School, Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School and Jose P. Laurel Elementary School. Jonathan Llanes
