DPWH completes 58 infra projects in Benguet
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The Benguet First District Engineering Office (DEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Cordillera has reported completing a total of 58 infrastructure projects worth PHP674.5 million in 2017.
District Engineer David Buliyat said the funds were sourced from the agency’s 2017 regular infrastructure budget.
Based on the 2017 accomplishment report obtained on Tuesday, the finished infrastructure projects include tourism roads, bridges, flood control, rainwater collection facilities, and multipurpose buildings.
Benguet First DEO covers the five towns of Itogon, Tuba, Bokod, Kabayan, and the capital town of La Trinidad.
The report said the agency constructed, improved, and rehabilitated about 7.17 kilometers of roads valued at P168.711 million.
These include the Baguio-Bauang, Baguio-Bontoc, and Shilan-Beckel roads.
Some P6.5 million was also used in the replacement, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridges along national roads.
These bridges are the Ambayek bridge along Gurel-Bokod-KabayanBuguias-Abatan road; Batuan bridge along Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual, Tuba BenguetLa Union boundary road; and Bongis bridge along Gurel-BokodKabayan-BuguiasAbatan road.
At least P120.030 million was used in the completion of seven flood control projects, which included repair and maintenance of dikes, river walls, and waterways.
These flood control projects are in Balili, La Trinidad; Bangao and Poblacion, Bokod;
Chogong-Danas and Poblacion in Kabayan town; and Twin Peaks in Tuba town.
Farm-to-market roads, school buildings, and day care centers worth P38.4 million were also built.
These are in Barangay Poblacion; Sitio Kabayasan-Tadimoymoy of Barangay Adaoay; Beleng-Mawini-Balangabang of Barangay Duacan; and Ekip-Apunan of Kabayan Barrio, all in the municipality of Kabayan.
The completed multipurpose buildings include the Alapang in La Trinidad; Ambuklao (Ambuklao-Bokod), Bisal Proper, Bobok-Bisal and Nawal, all in Bokod; Bagong, Banengbeng, and Bulluay in Sablan; Camangan in Itogon; and the Rural Health Center in Barangay Poblacion in Tuba.
The agency also completed the construction of Ballay-Tabio-Tonoman-Lusod road leading to tourism sites of Bulalacao Lakes and Mt Tabeo in Kabayan.
Also the Guisset-Binga-Baloy –Baloy-Tinongdan road leading to Binga dam and Mt. Ugo - which is the site of the International Sky Running sports event in Itogon.
The agency also completed 989 meters of farm-to-market roads worth P4 million, funded by the Department of Agriculture and Department of Agrarian Reform.
