The weekend of hell
CONGRATULATIONS, we survived the long weekend. Yes, we live to tell the tale of woe. Visitors started the sojourn to our city Thursday to get the most out of the long weekend planning to enjoy every morsel of time they carefully planned, dedicated to their short vacation, probably, out of the personal hellholes they had down there.
The long weekend was a celebration of sorts for the city, the Chinese community reveling in the weeklong festivities for the New Year which is highlighted by a parade downtown.
The Chinese community is a pillar in the city, with the business and friendship they bring to the city, the close of 5,000 strong group comprises a sector beloved by all.
The PMA celebrated their homecoming, welcoming alumni back to their alma mater with lavish weeklong preparations also highlighted by a parade and review.
The PMA homecoming is an event in itself bringing close to 2,000 alumni who bring along family in homage to the institution with their friends and “mistahs,” cheering to an unwavering band of brotherhood formed behind the walls of the academy.
This simply means they will bring in cars and vans in a display of wealth and opulence for those who have acquired more in life.
The city was bursting at its seams over the weekend and for those brave enough to go out, had to contend with traffic, waiting for seats at restaurants, long jeepney lines and no taxi cabs.
Most of the people I know walked home, cursing the heavens.
I read somewhere that people of the mountain city had knowledge of the impending long weekend and thus had a chance to prepare, meaning do not go out during the weekend, do your groceries, marketing and errands
