Baguio to host v-ball league in September

CORDILLERA’S volleyball gets a boost as Revisco brings in its Girls 18 Under Volleyball League.

Cordillera Volleyball Associatio­n secretary general Danilo Cong-o said the tournament is a rebooted Shakey’s 18 under volleyball tournament which is expected to see action in September

“Revisco has taken over the running and staging of the event,” he added.

Cong-o said a threeday Baguio-Benguet eliminatio­n will take place before the fourday regional finals that will see the winners from Region I including Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte and Sur.

It will be a 20 team tournament for the three-day area finals which will be divided into four pools. The winners from each pool will advance to the regional finals.

Schedule for the Baguio-Benguet eliminator will be on Sept. 21-23, while the regional finals will be from Sept. 27-28.

It will be a busy September for volleyball in Northern Luzon where area competitio­ns will be held in several provinces with the BaguioBeng­uet area as the last and the finals at the end of the month with Revisco scouring the whole country for volleyball talents starting March with the South Luzon competitio­ns.

This will be followed by the South Mindanao leg on April, North and Central Mindanao on May. Then they will set sail for Visayas on June

with the Eastern Visayas leg.

On July, it will return to Luzon with the National Capital Region segment before returning to Visayas with the Western/Central legs in August.

The national finals will be on Nov. 18-25 at the Ynares Sports Center.

“This is big with the eliminatio­ns to be held on provincial levels before the regional finals with the winners advancing to the nationals,” said Cong-o, also the director for Sports Developmen­t of the University of the Cordillera­s.

Cong-o added the tournament will be held right after the Batang Pinoy National Finals which is expected to be held the week before. Roderick Osis
