1 dies during float parade

A 52 – year - old house keeper wanting to witness Baguio City’s Grand Float Parade on Sunday died after collapsing in Upper Session Road.

Evelyn Tabing Bautista, a resident of Naglabraha­n, Guimba, Nueva Ecija was declared dead on arrival at Pines City Doctors Hospital by attending physicians Dr. Manuel Kelly and Dr.Sydney Padaoil Sunday morning.

According to her family members, the victim had a history of high blood pressure and was previously confined at their province for heart failure.

Bautista’s family has waived the conduct of an autopsy as they agreed the death to be of natural causes while the city government has expressed in assisting Bautista’s family of her transfer to their province.

The Baguio City Police Office meanwhile said the two day parade remains peaceful despite the two pickpocket­ing and several minor accidents in the city.

Police, while conducting anti-pickpocket operation at the Market Encounter, Lake Drive, arrested three out of school youths from Irisan on February 25 who were on the act of stealing a wallet from a student residing in La Trinidad, Benguet.

On February 24, police collared Breyan Oclerit Casiño, 40 – years – old and resident of Brgy. Aplaya, Sta Rosa, Laguna for discreetly sneaking eight bull caps worth P10,560.

Investigat­ion disclosed security guard Albert Mendez saw the suspect taking the bull cap at the display shelves of an establishm­ent inside a mall in the city and putting it underneath his clothes.

Mendez followed him until he was outside the mall and saw the suspect with two other male companions hailing a taxicab but Casiño was later on collared by the guard while the two others escaped.

Police Regional Office – Cordillera regional director Chief Superinten­dent Edward Carranza commended the Baguio City Police Office for its successful security measures during the two day parade, and likewise the people for being organized during the event.
