PRO-COR receives vehicles from Gen. Bato
TWENTY four 4x4 pick-up trucks and 12 motorcycles were distributed to the six provinces and two cities of Cordillera as part of the promise by Philippine National Police Chief Ronald Dela Rosa in his visit to Camp Dangwa last year.
During the 27th PNP Foundation Day Celebration at Camp Bado Dangwa, Police Regional Office Cordillera regional director Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza together with Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso acknowledged the importance given by the Chief PNP to the needs of the region's police combat crimes.
"One that makes this activity significant is the arrival and distribution of these 4x4 vehicles to be distributed in the different provinces and motorcycle rousers to be used in Baguio City to make our police men more mobile. Calls coming from other highland areas in the region can now be easily responded to," said Carranza.
Pacalso lauded the PNP Chief for staying true to his promise to local government officials in the region who requested for the vehicles during a meeting at Camp Dangwa in his visit last year.
"Indeed there is a reason why we should
celebrate the 27th PNP Foundation Day for many reasons. One, the crime volume in the Cordilleras have gone down by 35.41 percent, aside from the region having bestowed the Gold Eagle award which is the highest award being conferred to by the Philippine National Police to its units in its units for proficiency in its government service system," Pacalso said.
In last year’s National Police Service Awards, Cordillera was awarded the Best Provincial Police Office,Police Commissioned Officer for Operations, Senior PNP for Operations, Junior PNP for Operations, Municipal Police Station, and Public Safety Company in 2017.
Carranza meanwhile assured the region of additional 4x4 vehicles to be prioritized for the Cordilleras in the next procurement by the bids and awards of the PNP.
"Those provinces who have been given these 4x4's are expected to do more efficient service not only on police related matters but in disasters particularly in the mountainous areas of the Cordillera," added Carranza.
Carranza attributed the decrease in the region's crime volume to the strong support of the community and its awareness in supporting the crime prevention initiatives of the PNP, aside from his call to the parents to continuously advice their children on the importance to combat crime.
