Early registration in public schools for S.Y. 2018-2019 extended
GOOD news! To the parents and other concerned citizens out there, the early registration for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners for School Year 2018-2019 has been extended until February 28, 2018. Most public schools even extended up to April 6, 2018. This effort is pursuant to DepEd Order No. 3, s. 2018, or the Basic Education Enrollment Policy. Originally the schedule was set from January 27, 2018 - February 23, 2018 as prescribed by DepEd order no 6 s. 2017 (Multi-year Implementing Guidelines on Early Registration) indicating that the early registration activities for the incoming school year for all public elementary and secondary schools be held on the last Saturday of January and last Friday of February each year.
This will serve as a call to those who have not pre-registered their child or ward for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 for the incoming school year to visit the public institution of their choice and submit the necessary requirements before the early registration comes to a close.
If the learner turns 5 years old by the end of August (as per DO 47. s. 2016), he/she is qualified to pre-register in kindergarten. For Grade 1, kindergarten completers are accepted. For grade 7 and 11, they should be elementary graduate and junior high school completers respectively.
Incoming Kindergarten learners must bring their Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), formerly National Statistics Office (NSO), birth certificate and copy of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) checklist report from the previous school years’ day care centers, while Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners must present their birth certificate and previous school year’s report card.
The early registration is an initiative in preparation for the opening of classes with the aim of reaching the expected number of learners for SY 2018-2019. It is also a way to prepare for and address the possible issues and concerns school authorities may face during enrolment period in June. Grace L. Santos
