Panagbenga football cup set March 17

BAGUIO’s top football squads test their mettle against visiting squads as the annual Panagbenga Football Cup kicks off on March 17 and 18 at the Baguio Athletic Bowl.

Spearheade­d by the Cordillera Binnadang Football Club (CBFC), the tournament is expected to host teams coming from La Trinidad, Benguet, La Union and other provinces in northern Luzon.

“We are expecting at least 80 teams but we are anticipati­ng more because we have a better playing venue now,” said CBFC coach Aries Bocalan.

Trophies will be up for grabs in the nine –

a – side two day tournament which will serve as an avenue for grassroots football programs in the Cordillera to practice, learn, and improve their skill.

A 3 on 3 futsal games will also be played in the 10– under boys (born 2007), 12 – under girsl (2005), 14 under boys(2003), 14 under girls(2003) while the nine aside will have the 12 under boys (2005), 17 under boys (2000), and the 17 under girls(2000).

A ladies and men’s open will also top bill the tournament that will have a maximum of 12 players per team. Registrati­on fee for all categories will be at P1,000 while deadline will be on March 10.
