Creative economies in bloom at Session Road
SESSION Road has been home to aspiring entrepreneurs during the annual celebration of the Baguio Flower Festival (BFF).
The shopping paradise known as Session Road in Bloom (SRB) opens to hundreds of entrepreneurs for a weeklong sale of food, goods and services giving them a chance to profit as well as promote their unique products in a setting only the BFF can offer.
On ordinary days, Session Road is like any other city road, home to over 200 business establishments, a hub for commercialization, a center for information and a pulse for mass opinion but for the BFF, the road is transformed.
During the SRB, the stretch of Session Road is transformed for a week into a giant trading center with stalls selling almost everything, it is a shopper’s paradise of sorts for those eager to get great deals on one of a kind items.
SRB is a venue for new businesses to take center stage, for locals to promote their up and coming ventures, it is convergence of unique finds. Viajera Home Accents
A family of travellers has fueled a quaint business for siblings Moriah, Cana and John Horeb Dela Cruz.
The trio is composed of a flight and cruise ship steward and a pilot who love to fix up their house. The hobby was enough to break into the accidental business that is now Viajera.
The small stall at the SRB is a welcome addition to the usual staple finds, selling stained glass lamps and hand painted ceramics from Qatar taken from the souqaqif [Cultural Market] with fabrics from Thailand.
Moriah said the lamps caught her eye in December and bought an initial 10 pieces which she sold online instantly.
Moriah says the shop has a little something of everything from all their travels, selling only goods which they have fallen in love with.
The three month frenzy in buying and selling quality accents has put Viajera as a star in the crowded SRB.
