17 bagged for illegal gambling
SEVENTEEN illegal gamblers in the region were recently collared by the different units of the Police Regional Office Cordillera in their intensified antiillegal gambling operation.
Three were minors were caught in the act of engaging in illegal gambling over the weekend in Baguio City on March 4 together with Ramil Dineros Pornelos, of Purok 1, Gibraltar; Jose Marchan Hara, of Maria Basa, Pacdal.
Construction workers identified as Arjay Jose Laureta and Mark Navidad Jose, both natives of Dupax del Norte, Nueva Viscaya; Mario Marzan Pagador of San Vicente, Pangasinan and Naldo Olario Maborang of Balaoan, La Union were also arrested at the ongoing building construction at Villamor St, Lualhati, Baguio City.
A total of P3,238 bet money and 52 pieces of playing cards were confiscated from their possession.
In Abra, Eddie Boy Valeros Millare, Daryl Dave Mata David, Mark Anthony Tadeo Palecpec and Jeravie Valeros Bulda were nabbed while in the act of playing mahjong in the afternoon of March 4 at Sitio Bacsil, Brgy. Angad, Bangued.
Confiscated from their possession were one set of mahjong and bet money amounting to P795 in different denominations.
In Benguet, Loyd Mayomis y Aronza and Prinston Randy Poras y Soan, both residents of Camp 4, Tuba, and Tublay were arrested during an illegal cockfighting in Baragay Virac, Bobon, Itogon.
Confiscated were two jolo fighting cocks, bet money amounting to P800 in different denominations, three pieces of notebook, and a ballpen.
In Mountain Province, William Finatek Chakas of Bontoc Ili, Bontoc and Hansel Lamag Singlan, 29, native of Anabel, Sadanga were arrested in the afternoon of
March 3 inside Bogs Chakas Building, Komesey, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc.
Confiscated from them were two decks of playing cards, bet money amounting to P270.00 and an improvised table.
PRO-COR regional director Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza ordered all provincial directors to continue its intensified operations against illegal gambling in the region, and to arrest more individuals especially those protectors and gambling lords.
