14 kidney patients benefit in ‘Parade for a Cause’
BONTOC, Mountain Province, -- It may not be that much but it was a big help for 14 patients undergoing dialysis at the Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH).
Some P98,780 collected from the ‘Parade for a Cause’ which was one of the activities in celebration of the Women’s Day in the province, was divided equally among them to help defray their medical expenses.
A minimum donation of P30 was collected from participants and donors. Employees from the national line agencies submitted P47,800; P34,712 from the provincial government employees; P13,336 from quasi-govern-
ment/non-government organizations and barangay local government of Poblacion, Bontoc and P 2,932 from other donors.
The ‘Parade for a Cause’ started in 2014 as one of the activities in celebration of Women’s Day to raise funds for provincemates undergoing dialysis at the provincial hospital.
Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Nenita D. Lizardo informed in 2014, the parade for a cause raised P73,055 which was divided equally among 11patients. In 2015, P119,373 was collected which was used to defray the expenses of patients during their hospitalization and their dialysis.
Collection in 2016 was P98,955 divided among 15 dialysis patients and in 2017, P113,867 was raised and used by 16 patients.
From 2014 to 2016, a minimum voluntary donation of P20 was collected from the government employees of Bontoc Municipal Government, provincial local government and national line agencies, nongovernment organizations, people’s organizations.
The establishment of a dialysis center at the BoGH has spared kidney patients in the province of the physical rigors and the financially draining travels to Baguio City for the needed medical attention. PIA – CAR
