Ola rides at the Children’s Park.
The trade fair at Juan Luna drive is under the program of the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Office [OCSWADO] aiming to raise P2M for the city’s drug rehabilitation program.
Two operators won the right to operate the trade fair for 30 days, bidding P4 million for the space and allotted another P150,000 for landscaping for the park.
The Vice mayor said “Sa definition ng trade fair wala don ang carnival and amusement rides, dapat ipasara ito.”
During Monday’s regular session Lacsamana said the CEPMO was not included in the technical working group formed for the trade fair.
Bilog said “The city council should act and make a drastic change on what is happening in the parks, it’s getting to commercialized” adding the phenomenon is not good for park goers as spaces to move around have gotten limited.
The city council set aside market vendor’s opposition in favor of a trade fair requested by the to raise funds for drug rehabilitation program and got the nod of Mayor Maurico Domogan.
Ola’s carnival operations at the Children’s Park was approved by the council and Domogan for 6o days set to expire when classes start by June without gambling or games of chance.
Under the agreement of a lease price of P500,000 has been maintained despite the shortening of the number of days in operation, a bond of 50, 000 has also been paid to the city in case of damage to the park.
Domogan has ordered the Ola carnival to halt pending submission of safety certificates from a private engineer as well as from the city engineering office but it continues to operate to this day.
