Cops seize P5M hot logs

THE Police Regional Office Cordillera's response to the call of President Duterte's to arrest those involved in illegal logging led to the confiscati­on lumber with a value of P561,527.61 from March 1 to April 12.

For the month of March, PROCOR has conducted a total of 13 operations resulting in the arrest of 6 individual­s with a total volume of 5,521 assorted board feet recovered with an estimated total worth value of P288,167.82.

During the first two weeks of April, operatives conducted 19 police operations resulting in the confiscati­on of a total volume of 11,529 board feet with an estimated total worth value of P273,359.79.

In Apayao, assorted pieces of abandoned lumber with a total volume of 857 boardft were recovered having an estimated total value of P15,426.

In Benguet, a total of 29 assorted pieces of abandoned lumber were seized with a total volume of 143.50 board ft worth P4,018.

In the Mt Province, a total of 97 assorted pieces of abandoned lumber with a total volume of 805 board

ft worth P23,777, recovered.

In Kalinga 32 assorted pieces of abandoned lumber with a volume of 526 board ft worth P42,080 were recovered.

During the massive and simultaneo­us enforcemen­t of campaign against illegal logging, no suspects were arrested despite the effort to locate possible suspects responsibl­e in illegal cutting of trees.

All seized and confiscate­d lumber re now under the custody of the CENRO/ PENRO of the concern municipali­ty.

Police Chief Superinten­dent Edward Carranza, Regional Director of PRO-COR directed all unit commanders to strengthen police operations and intensify intelligen­ce build up against personalit­ies involved in illegal logging and the subsequent apprehensi­on and filing of cases against them.
