BoCaps convene for programs

UPDATES on matters of concern such as the conduct of the Pasadang Pambarangay, Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) and Search for Best Performing Barangay were presented during the monthly Punong Barangays meeting last week.

According to Community Affairs Officer Noel Mabutas, this month’s clustered Pasadang Pambarangay serves district VII; Central Guisad, Cresencia, Guisad Surong, Lower Magsaysay, P. Burgos and Zamora, Pinsao Pilot and Slaughter house area on April 27 after one such session at Middle Quirino Hill last April 13.

Pasadang Pambarangay aims to reach out to the grassroots, with medical, optical and dental services, information services on health concerns, consultation with agencies and offices, social services, infrastructure and environment; all done in partnership with government and private entities. The program also conducts with

anti-rabies drives, in coordination with animal welfare advocates.

A free circumcision session was also conducted at Middle Quirino Hill Barangay with Department of Health personnel attending to boys from the community and neighboring areas.

For the UCT, the punong barangays were informed of validating procedures which starts with a courtesy call of accredited validators in their offices, a call for target households, assignment of guides for validators, interview of UCT recipients and exit conference. The process ends after the validator properly interviews the UCT recipient and informed the Punong barangay or Officer-in Charge of their findings. The month-long validation process starts on April 25.

The UCT is a Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) cash grant or special pension program at P200/month for poorer recipients, and a component of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN).

The search for the 2017 Best Performing Barangay has also started early April. Accordingly, the basis for evaluation is on Administration and Governance: management plans and compliance; Social services through advocacies; Environmental concerns; Health, Wellness, Nutrition and Sanitation Services; Peace and Order; Public Safety, and Competitiveness.

Congressman Marquez Go, Mayor Mauricio Domogan and other officials present also gave messages to the barangay officials.

Presentations were also given by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) through Police Officer Uminga; and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) through Director Julius Martin.
