You shall love your neighbor as yourself
THE characteristic of being selfless is one of the most vital traits a person can have. It was also included on the Ten Commandments of God that says: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” and this is one of the most imperative command. Selflessness runs counter to human nature, which is why being selfless is so much more demanding than being selfish. It’s natural think or care first about ourselves, and we are encouraged to think selfishly from all sides. Being selfless is a mindset.
For easier understanding, it’s about putting someone else before you. It’s about doing somebody a favor or something with no restraints. It’s about realizing that life isn’t just about your own needs and predilections but rather looking out for another's as well.
Selflessness is an important ingredient on aspects such marriage, friendship, and relationship and an essential key to fulfillment, happiness and harmony. But unfortunately, often disregarded. Selflessness is often disregarded as a key to happiness because on the surface, it seems to run divergent to the very notion. But it should not be.
We have given a life and it has various of possible purposes. They can be used to advance personal kingdom for selfishly owned reasons (money, fame, possessions, reputation, and prestige). But our lives can also be lived in justice, happiness, or growth and development of our nation. We can live to unravel problems we encounter in this world in line with the top illnesses of our nation, the Philippines. We can dedicate ourselves to advancing certain exemplars.
