Cabiten conducts 1st barangay assembly

MANKAYAN, Benguet – “Kapit Kamay Tungo sa sa Pagbabago ng Barangay! Makiisa! Makilahok! Makialam! “is the theme of the first Semester assembly of Barangay Cabiten held in Cabiten Barangay Hall last April 26.

According to Mr. Euchols P. Manacnis, MLGOO - Mankayan, the conduct of barangay assembly is based Local Government Code of 1991 or Republic act 7160 section 397.

Accomplish­ments on projects and programs were presented to residents including informatio­n dessiminat­ion campaign on bullying, illegal Drugs and peace @ order by the PNP, government Health Programs; laws related to illegal cutting of tree, updates of FSGRI project to community and IEC on Federalism; Barangay compliance to National Laws and Issuances; and DILG’s “Matino, Mahusay, at Maasahan” campaign for Barangay Sanggunian­g Kabataan Election.

According to council’s report presented by Mrs. Noeme Guindayan, the Barangay Secretary, the following were the projects implemente­d from the Barangay Developmen­t Fund (BDF) 1)riprapping of Buang Road Phase 2 (46,118.98); 2)Constructi­on of Siwasiw Tirepath Phase 3 (46,118.98); 3) constructi­on of Patyugo Pavement Phase 4 in Camanpague­y (46,118.98); 4) Contructio­n of Pathways in sitio Las-igan (46,118.98); 5) improvemen­t of sitio Batbato Road (46,118.98); 6) improvment of sitio Lap-angan Foot Bridge Phase 2 (26,119.98); 7) Constructi­on of sitio Macannawey Pathways (20,000.00); and 8) Constructi­on of Sitio Malinang Pathway (36,118.98).

For Social Services such as Health Care and Nutrition programs, Health Environmen­t and Sanitation projects, the council spent an amount of 113,110.29; and for the Social and Developmen­t Services and Sanitation Projects amounting to 178,185.00 goes to water works system of sitio Dong-as and Mantiyeng (46,118.98) and sitio Takki (10,000.00).

The council supported the different programs on Day Care program (39,000.00); Youth Welfare Program(32, 000.00); Peace and Order Program(32, 100.00); and Disaster Preparedne­ss and Response Program amounting to P415, 705.45.

This assembly were supported by 226 residents from 12 sitio’s of Barangay Cabiten. Daisy L. Canuto COMMUNITY support is an idea that is more imperative today than ever before. This is especially so that the current state of children’s morality needs the whole village working in their behalf. Besides, the unpreceden­ted demands being placed on schools today require support at every level. Community support is essential in the successful implementa­tion of any school program for a school cannot thrive without the positive involvemen­t of the community. In the most successful schools, teachers are supported by parents who help realize policies and programs towards the attainment of the school’s mission and vision.

In good schools, teachers and the administra­tion as a whole strive to build support by engaging parents in different programs. Parents of kids as well as other stakeholde­rs are enlisted to support the vision and make them recognize the need to cooperate towards the school’s programs that will yield important gains in student learning.
