Trading post code up for review

capital town is eyeing to amend its Vegetable Trading Post Code.

La Trinidad Councilor Guiller Galwan, chair on the committee on ways and means said they would like to incorporat­e changes on the trading post code management and operation of its collection fees of booths at the bagsakan areas including parking areas and other vegetable traders concern.

A public consultati­on for the revised La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post Code set on May 16 at the Lednicky Hall of the municipal building to hear the suggestion­s of the traders.

“We would include the fees, specifical­ly for the trading post in a way it would amend the parts of revised revenue code with regards to the trading post,” said Galwan.

The League of Associatio­ns at the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Area Inc. meanwhile have submitted their proposals for the amendment of the provisions of the revised revenue code of 2017 affecting the traders and businesses the vegetable trading area to the local council.

The traders wrote Mayor Romeo Salda of their proposal for the amendment of the revised revenue code dated April 17 and further ask for his certificat­ion for the Sanggunian­g Bayan to facilitate the amendment of the revised revenue code.

The proposals of the LTVTA Inc. pertain to the market fees for the occupancy of market premises at the bagsakan area, rental of booths at the vegetable trading post, renewal of disposers business permits, garbage fee including additional proposals on the regulatory fees concerning farmers, buyers, general concerns on comfort rooms at the bagsakan area, garbage, private parking and trading areas, cart for hire operators, and community tax certificat­e.

Last January, La Trinidad traders filed a petition to the Department of Justice Central Office to nullify the revised revenue code of La Trinidad which has not been acted upon by the Secretary within sixty days of the said appeal.

The petition said the increase of tax rates, fees, and or charges under the revised revenue code of 2017 of the municipali­ty is baseless, unreasonab­le, unjust, excessive, oppressive and contrary to declared national policy hence, null and void.
