NBI to probe RoD
A PROBE by the National Bureau of Investigation is being sought for irregularities at the Baguio Registry of Deeds.
Irked members of the City Council noted the non-appearance of RoD officer in charge Rodil Rivera as more witnesses came forward to attest his alleged corruption.
Lawyer Frisco Domalsin, appeared anew to agree to put into an affidavit his unfortunate experience at the RoD were it was suggested to pay an additional P50,000 to have land titles released.
A case is being readied against Rivera following complaints of the groups of Juanita
Tabay and Kathleen Flores last week over the same situation where they were asked to shell out an additional P5,000 to have their land titles released despite having all papers in order.
Allegedly, staff from the Registery of Deeds will advise clients to shell out the money to be given to Rivera if they want to get hold of their documents.
Rivera, on his second invitation to the August body was a no show, but instead sent a letter saying he did not know what the meeting was about.
The city council is also seeking the transfer of Rivera, pending the investigation of the case while another including vitation has been forwarded to his office.
Councilor Leandro Yangot has also forwarded a letter by another set of complainants over the RoD official which will be added to the case to be filed against the public officer.
Last week, Rivera was summoned to the city council over complaints of under the table transactions involving the release of land titles where complainants attested Rivera and staff of RoD allegedly demand they shell out money in exchange for the speedy release of their titles.
