Loading, unloading zones in city roads eyed

THE CITY Council approved on first reading a proposed ordinance designatin­g loading, unloading zones and taxi stands along the roads and streets within the city and providing penalties for violation of the measure.

Councilor Benny Bomogao, in his proposed measure said there will be 28 designated loading and unloading zones and 18 taxi stands to be designated along various roads and streets in the city.

The designated loading and unloading zones will be located along Upper Session Road in front of PLDT, Upper Session Road in front of Solibao restaurant, Upper Session Road in front of Chowking restaurant, Upper Session road in front of KFC fastfood, Upper Session road in front of the Post Office, Middle Session road in front of Volante, Lower Session road in front of Luisa’s Café, Lower Session Road in front of Diagnostic Center, Lower Session Road in front of Developmen­t Bank of the Philippine­s, Lower Session road in front of McDonald’s and 456 restaurant, Lower Session Road in front of Save More, Perfecto St. for Aurora Hill jeepneys, Perfecto St. for Trancovill­e jeeps, Harrison fronting the demolished former Rose Bowl restaurant, Harrison Road fronting the Patriotic High School, Gov. Pack road near City Treasury office booth, UP Drive entrance in Sunshine Park, UP entrance along Japanese Park, Baguio City High School second gate, City Health Services Office beside the flagpole, Mabini Street in front of Victoria Supermart, Sunshine Supermart, Abanao Square mall, Marbay Abanao, Magsaysay Avenue beside old Rabbit sinkhole, SLU drive and NBI old gate.

The designated taxi stands include Lower Session Road in front of Chowking, Lower Session road near Pines Arcade, Middle Session Road in front of Luisa’s Café, Middle Session Road in front of Jollibee, Upper Session road in front of Solibao, Upper Session Road near Skyworld, Abanao Road in front of Abanao Square, Upper Session Road in front of PLDT, Marcoville in front of Victory Liner terminal, Pacdal Park circle, Mines View Park, Sunshine Supermart, BGH rotunda, Slaughterh­ouse Compound, Harrison Road in front of waiting shed, Gov. Pack road in front of UC first gate, Bonifacio St. in front of SLU main gate and Magsaysay Avenue in front of Baguio Center Mall.

Any person found guilty of violating the provisions of the measure will be fined P250 to P500 for the first offense, P300 to P1,000 for the second offense for the second offense and P500 to P1,500 and suspension of driver’s license for a onemonth period for the third and succeeding violations for failure to observe the taxi stands and loading and unloading areas.

The ordinance stipulated the City Engineerin­g Office, in coordinati­on with the Baguio City Police Office–Traffic Management Branch (BCPO-TMB) will be tasked to install

the necessary signages in the designated loading, unloading zones and taxi stands and that the signages must measure 24 inches by 24 inches indicating the ordinance number, advisory, penalty and below the signage should include the pick and go warning.

Any driver found parking his vehicle at the designated stands or loading area despite no visible passengers to load shall be fined P500 and confiscati­on of both front and back license plate numbers.
