Thou­sands ben­e­fit in Brent School med­i­cal mis­sion

THE AN­NUAL Brent School Med­i­cal-Den­tal-Op­ti­cal Mis­sion held April 18 served close to 1,000 pa­tients.

There were 1,708 ser­vices ren­dered dur­ing the out­reach pro­gram with 423 get­ting med­i­cal ser­vices, 233 sought den­tal ser­vices, and 381 where un­der the op­ti­cal ser­vices with 671 given free medecines.

This ac­tiv­ity was or­ga­nized by the Brent In­ter­na­tional School Baguio (BISB) in col­lab­o­ra­tion with their part­ner or­ga­ni­za­tions and in­sti­tu­tions.

BISB in­cludes the school’s ad­min­is­tra­tion, em­ploy­ees, fac­ulty & staff, the Par­ents-Teach­ers As­so­ci­a­tion (PTA), stu­dent-led or­ga­ni­za­tions (the Stu­dent Coun­cil, the Na­tional Honor So­ci­ety, the Ju­nior Coun­cil), and the whole stu­dent body.

The school’s part­ners in­clude the Ro­tary Club of Metro Baguio, the ROTARACTS, the Philip­pine Den­tal As­so­ci­a­tion (Baguio Chap­ter), SLU Hos­pi­tal of the Sa­cred Heart and School of Medicine, UB School of Den­tistry, and Ideal Vi­sion, as well as Brent School alumni from Batch 1992, Easter Col­lege School of Nurs­ing Fac­ulty, BSU School of

Nurs­ing Fac­ulty.

The funds used for the out­reach pro­gram came from the main fundrais­ing ac­tiv­ity of the school, the Brent School Christ­mas Bazaar held ev­ery Novem­ber, how­ever the funds from other fundrais­ing ac­tiv­i­ties of the school and stu­dent or­ga­ni­za­tions also made sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions.

There were also donations re­ceived from gen­er­ous bene­fac­tors and cor­po­rate spon­sors that also helped make this ac­tiv­ity a suc­cess, namely: Brent Em­ploy­ees Co­op­er­a­tive (BREMCO), Wil­lowtree De­vel­op­ment Corporation, and Cu­ramed Phar­macy.

Ad­di­tional funds came from var­i­ous PTA ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing the Brent Cup Golf Tour­na­ment, which spon­sors in­clude: Re­sorts World Manila, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Le Chef at the Manor, The Manor at Camp John Hay, Mizuno, Mar-Deb, Sher­wood Hills Golf Club, Srixon, Gol­force, Baguio Coun­try Club, Texas Ea­gle and Unic­ity Nu­traceu­ti­cals.

The an­nual med­i­cal-den­tal-op­ti­cal mis­sion has been the flag­ship com­mu­nity ser­vice project of BISB for the past 18 years, and look­ing for­ward to see­ing ev­ery­one again at the 19th mis­sion on April 2019.
