Thousands benefit in Brent School medical mission
THE ANNUAL Brent School Medical-Dental-Optical Mission held April 18 served close to 1,000 patients.
There were 1,708 services rendered during the outreach program with 423 getting medical services, 233 sought dental services, and 381 where under the optical services with 671 given free medecines.
This activity was organized by the Brent International School Baguio (BISB) in collaboration with their partner organizations and institutions.
BISB includes the school’s administration, employees, faculty & staff, the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), student-led organizations (the Student Council, the National Honor Society, the Junior Council), and the whole student body.
The school’s partners include the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio, the ROTARACTS, the Philippine Dental Association (Baguio Chapter), SLU Hospital of the Sacred Heart and School of Medicine, UB School of Dentistry, and Ideal Vision, as well as Brent School alumni from Batch 1992, Easter College School of Nursing Faculty, BSU School of
Nursing Faculty.
The funds used for the outreach program came from the main fundraising activity of the school, the Brent School Christmas Bazaar held every November, however the funds from other fundraising activities of the school and student organizations also made significant contributions.
There were also donations received from generous benefactors and corporate sponsors that also helped make this activity a success, namely: Brent Employees Cooperative (BREMCO), Willowtree Development Corporation, and Curamed Pharmacy.
Additional funds came from various PTA activities, including the Brent Cup Golf Tournament, which sponsors include: Resorts World Manila, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Le Chef at the Manor, The Manor at Camp John Hay, Mizuno, Mar-Deb, Sherwood Hills Golf Club, Srixon, Golforce, Baguio Country Club, Texas Eagle and Unicity Nutraceuticals.
The annual medical-dental-optical mission has been the flagship community service project of BISB for the past 18 years, and looking forward to seeing everyone again at the 19th mission on April 2019.
