8 illegal gambling suspects fall in police ops
EIGHT suspects involved in illegal gambling activities were arrested by authorities in several parts of the Cordillera region confiscating bet money, three roosters and assorted gambling paraphernalia.
On May 7, joint operatives of Atok Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Criminal Investigation and Detection (CIDG) arrested Larry Kilas Pessi, 52, Arpin Agyao Ablasi, 31, and Franklin Yap Aniban, 27, who are all residents of Paoay, Atok, Benguet for violation of PD 1602 amended by RA 9287 in Catnangan, Cattubo, Atok.
Confiscated from their possession are three cockfighting roosters, bet money amounting to P500 and three pieces of booklet containing the list of bettors with corresponding bets.
Another operation in Kalinga on May 6 by personnel of CIDG Kalinga, Provincial Intelligence Branch Kalinga and Tabuk City Police Station conducted anti-illegal gambling operation in Casigayan, Tabuk City which resulted to the arrest of Karl Jordan Wanawan Mamawag, 29, a resident of Sukbot, Pinukpuk and Dexter Killey Baligod, 23, a resident of Balong, Tabuk City.
Confiscated from the suspects are six pieces of
cards with different combinations, name of bettors and bet money amounting to P3,790 in different denomination.
In Ifugao, personnel of Banaue MPS while on patrol at Sitio, Iyacop, Barangay Tam-an arrested Romeo Attaban Miguel, 50, a resident of Amganad, Banaue, Jeremy Cumahling Hammadon, 22, a resident of Sitio Pugo, Amganad, Banaue and Jessie Ballogan y Magastino, 34, a resi- dent of Cababuyan South, Hingyon, Ifugao while playing a card game and the confiscation of a of set of playing cards and the bet money amounting to P100.
Police Regional Office – Cordillera regional director Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza appealed to the community for their continuous support as PROCOR will not tolerate the proliferation of illegal gambling in Cordillera.
