8 il­le­gal gam­bling sus­pects fall in po­lice ops

EIGHT sus­pects in­volved in il­le­gal gam­bling ac­tiv­i­ties were ar­rested by au­thor­i­ties in sev­eral parts of the Cordillera re­gion con­fis­cat­ing bet money, three roost­ers and as­sorted gam­bling para­pher­na­lia.

On May 7, joint op­er­a­tives of Atok Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion (MPS) and Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion and De­tec­tion (CIDG) ar­rested Larry Ki­las Pessi, 52, Ar­pin Agyao Ablasi, 31, and Franklin Yap Ani­ban, 27, who are all res­i­dents of Paoay, Atok, Benguet for vi­o­la­tion of PD 1602 amended by RA 9287 in Cat­nan­gan, Cat­tubo, Atok.

Con­fis­cated from their possession are three cock­fight­ing roost­ers, bet money amount­ing to P500 and three pieces of book­let con­tain­ing the list of bet­tors with cor­re­spond­ing bets.

An­other op­er­a­tion in Kalinga on May 6 by per­son­nel of CIDG Kalinga, Pro­vin­cial In­tel­li­gence Branch Kalinga and Tabuk City Po­lice Sta­tion con­ducted anti-il­le­gal gam­bling op­er­a­tion in Casi­gayan, Tabuk City which re­sulted to the ar­rest of Karl Jor­dan Wanawan Ma­mawag, 29, a res­i­dent of Suk­bot, Pinukpuk and Dex­ter Kil­ley Baligod, 23, a res­i­dent of Ba­long, Tabuk City.

Con­fis­cated from the sus­pects are six pieces of

cards with dif­fer­ent com­bi­na­tions, name of bet­tors and bet money amount­ing to P3,790 in dif­fer­ent de­nom­i­na­tion.

In Ifu­gao, per­son­nel of Banaue MPS while on pa­trol at Si­tio, Iy­a­cop, Barangay Tam-an ar­rested Romeo At­ta­ban Miguel, 50, a res­i­dent of Am­ganad, Banaue, Jeremy Cumahling Ham­madon, 22, a res­i­dent of Si­tio Pugo, Am­ganad, Banaue and Jessie Bal­lo­gan y Ma­gastino, 34, a resi- dent of Cababuyan South, Hingyon, Ifu­gao while play­ing a card game and the con­fis­ca­tion of a of set of play­ing cards and the bet money amount­ing to P100.

Po­lice Re­gional Of­fice – Cordillera re­gional di­rec­tor Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Ed­ward Car­ranza ap­pealed to the com­mu­nity for their con­tin­u­ous sup­port as PROCOR will not tol­er­ate the pro­lif­er­a­tion of il­le­gal gam­bling in Cordillera.
