8 illegal gambling suspects fall in police ops

EIGHT suspects involved in illegal gambling activities were arrested by authoritie­s in several parts of the Cordillera region confiscati­ng bet money, three roosters and assorted gambling parapherna­lia.

On May 7, joint operatives of Atok Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection (CIDG) arrested Larry Kilas Pessi, 52, Arpin Agyao Ablasi, 31, and Franklin Yap Aniban, 27, who are all residents of Paoay, Atok, Benguet for violation of PD 1602 amended by RA 9287 in Catnangan, Cattubo, Atok.

Confiscate­d from their possession are three cockfighti­ng roosters, bet money amounting to P500 and three pieces of booklet containing the list of bettors with correspond­ing bets.

Another operation in Kalinga on May 6 by personnel of CIDG Kalinga, Provincial Intelligen­ce Branch Kalinga and Tabuk City Police Station conducted anti-illegal gambling operation in Casigayan, Tabuk City which resulted to the arrest of Karl Jordan Wanawan Mamawag, 29, a resident of Sukbot, Pinukpuk and Dexter Killey Baligod, 23, a resident of Balong, Tabuk City.

Confiscate­d from the suspects are six pieces of

cards with different combinatio­ns, name of bettors and bet money amounting to P3,790 in different denominati­on.

In Ifugao, personnel of Banaue MPS while on patrol at Sitio, Iyacop, Barangay Tam-an arrested Romeo Attaban Miguel, 50, a resident of Amganad, Banaue, Jeremy Cumahling Hammadon, 22, a resident of Sitio Pugo, Amganad, Banaue and Jessie Ballogan y Magastino, 34, a resi- dent of Cababuyan South, Hingyon, Ifugao while playing a card game and the confiscati­on of a of set of playing cards and the bet money amounting to P100.

Police Regional Office – Cordillera regional director Chief Superinten­dent Edward Carranza appealed to the community for their continuous support as PROCOR will not tolerate the proliferat­ion of illegal gambling in Cordillera.
