Inclusive education inset in Bakun
EIGHTY one (81) participants from kindergarten to Grade IV teachers of public elementary schools in Bakun had a three-day echo training-workshop on Inclusive Education last May 810 at Ampusongan Elementary School, Bakun, Benguet. The training was conducted to help and prepare teachers on how to assess and cater their Learners with Special Educational Needs or LSENs.
The topics discussed included Inclusive Education: Definitions and Concepts; Nature of Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSENs); Effective Behavior Management for LSENs; Addressing Concerns on Classroom Instruction; Adapting Instruction for Learners with Sensory Challenges; Ability grouping in Education; Modifications of Curricular Instructions and Activities; Where Do I belong?/ Who Needs Screening and Assessment; Assessment for Special – K-3 & Grades 4-6; Screening and Assessment Forms; Individualized Education Program alternately called an Individual Education Plan (IEP); Grading Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSENs) in Inclusive Classroom; Sexuality Education for Learners with Special Educational Needs and Roles of School Administrators, Regular Teachers, SPED Teachers, NonTeaching Personnel and Parent in Inclusive Education.
The facilitators/resource speakers were Aurelia B. Atonen – Head Teacher III of Labinio-Acquisio ES, Rosella A. Abuen – Teacher III of Talbino ES and Brenda P. Bugtong – Teacher II of Ampusongan ES.
The training-workshop ended with the giving of certificates and challenge to the participants to apply what they have learned in their teaching activities.
