Campus journalist­s lauded

BUDDING local journalist­s who won in the 2018 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) held February 19 to 24 in Dumaguete City where presented recently during flagraisin­g rites at City hall to local officials, employees and guests headed by Mayor Mauricio Domogan.

City schools superinten­dent Federico Martin said these are Ayana Isabel Mendoza from SPED Center who garnered 5th place in the copy reading and headline writing-English category and Jennifer Ladines of Mabini Elementary School, 7th place in Editorial Cartooning-English category, both in the Elementary Level-Individual.

In the Secondary Level-Individual, Erica Janine Sayaan of Joaquin Smith High School won first place in the Pagkuha ng Larawang Pampahayag­ang-Filipino Kategorya while Charlyn Lumichao of Quezon Hill National High School grabbed 5th place in the Pagwawasto at Paguulo ng Balita-Filipino.

Winning second place in the Second Level-Group On-Line Desktop Publishing­English category is the team composed of Bobby Carl Mortel, Kathlea Gawani Yangot, Ashley Francesca Oca, Rovieth Marfil, Zachary Abcede, Dylan Uy and Mickel Paul Kinomes from Philippine Science High School.

Chosen as the NSPC’s Outstandin­g Campus Journalist-Secondary level is Imogen de Jesus of Academia de Sophia Internatio­nal.

Domogan congratu- lated the students saying that they have not only brought honor to themselves and their families but to the city and region as well.
