82 individual­s arested in 2 day police operation

AT LEAST 82 wanted individual­s while 15 assorted firearms and explosives were confiscate­d during a two day one time - big time operation by the Cordillera police.

Fifty – eight suspects with warrants were initially apprehende­d while 16 others were arrested during the region-wide implementa­tion of 15 search warrants, with eight arrested after being caught in the act of engaging in Illegal gambling related activities.

The searches also resulted in the confiscati­on 15 assorted high and low powered firearms, 120 pieces of assorted ammunition­s for different calibers, six pieces magazines for assorted firearms, an MK fragmentat­ion hand grenade, 189 pieces of blasting caps, two rolls of safety fuse, and .5 kg ammonium nitrate and fuel oil.

Four top most wanted persons (TMWP) were also collared during the series of operations in the region.

Rudy De Guzman, the No. 7 TMWP from Ifugao was arrested at Nungawa, Asipulo, Ifugao on May 25 for violation of RA 7610, otherwise known as the Protection against Child Abuse, Exploitati­on and Discrimina­tion.

Ace Escudero, a.k.a. Jarel Cabresos Cagara a.k.a. Jebrill, the No. 2 TMWP of Station 4, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) wanted for frustrated homicide was also arrested at

Km5 in La Trinidad, Benguet, while Dexter Caligtan the No. 7 TMWP of La Trinidad, was nabbed on May 26 in violation of RA 7610, and the No. 3 TMWP of Tubo, Abra Amilyn Toni wanted for frustrated murder.

Assorted lumber with a total volume of 1,902 board feet with an estimated value of P54,302 was confiscate­d during operations in the provinces of Mountain Province and Ifugao.

In La Trinidad, three suspects were caught in the act of playing card games with P3,350 bet money in different denominati­ons was confiscate­d from their possession.

BCPO also confiscate­d three sets of mahjong tiles, three sets of mahjong table, and P1,585 bet money in at City Camp, Baguio City.

In Benguet, 18 sachets containing suspected shabu and marijuana tops, leaves and stems, and one black small smoking pipe during searches in Buguias, La Trinidad, and Tuba in Benguet Province were also destroyed.

During the May 25 – 26 operations, BCPO accounted for the most number of arrests with 25, Benguet contribute­d 14, Abra with 14, Kalinga has 12, Ifugao with seven with Apayao and Mountain Province arresting five.
