Cordi top cop calls for unity
POLICE Regional Office Cordillera regional director Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana called on the Cordillerans to unite in maintaining the peace in the region.
Nana made the call during the Independence Day celebration in the city as he emphasized on the need for peace to assure the progress of the region.
“We may have been freed from foreign oppression but we were still not free from the threats of society. On my perspective, we are still not free from the threats of criminality, corruption, illegal drugs, and terrorism,” Nana stated.
Nana also asked Cordilleras to participate in combating the problems and challenges of our society.
“In our observance of Independence Day in the city, let us all strive to take care of what our forefathers started and fought for. We all have a role despite our different standing in society. Let us strive by providing truthful service and participation not only today but in the future,” the police officer asserted.
Nana also called on the citizens of the region to join their officials by joining in the programs of their communities particularly in the talks for peace.
“All problems cannot be solved by the police alone. Unity among us is needed and this is the reason why we are asking the participation of everyone because the future of our country and the coming generation now rests on our shoulders and our capacity to have a region far from criminality, corruption, illegal drugs, and terrorism. This is all our fight,”
Nana reiterated.
Despite the 22,000 drug surrenderers recorded in the region, Nana still noted the presence of marijuana plantation in the Cordilleras and the continuing involvement of people in the illegal drug trade.
“We continue to bring the occurrence of criminality through an inter agency coordination together with volunteer groups, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to ensure peace in our society region. Three decades have past since I was a lieutenant and back then as it is still now, we continue to face the same problem. We should give peace a chance,” Nana added.
Nana meanwhile lauded the heroics of PO2 Henry Dion who was killed in a recent encounter between the PNP and NPA in Sagada together with 11 other police personnel who were wounded.
