Tuba road accidents increase

THE TEMPORARY closure of Kennon road remains as vehicular traffic accidents were recorded this month.

Tuba Municipal Police noted from June 3 to 17 there were 10 vehicular accidents at Marcos Highway while Kennon Road saw three all caused by human error, muddy and slippery roads and mechanical defects.

Tuba Chief Inspector James Acod urged motorists to drive safely and assure good condition of their vehicles while traversing along the said routes.

On June 20, Department of Public Works and Highways-Benguet Engineer Ashley Santos conducted blasting activities at Camp 1 in Kennon Road for the clearing of the 10 feet boulder that blocked Kennon Road, Sunday.

The boulder resulted to damage a Toyota driven by 28-year old Police Officer 2 Jefferson Cadap traversing along Sitio Tukang, Barangay Camp 3 in Kennon Road as smashed its front portion.

Cadap together with his wife Ginalyn and two minors were brought by concerned motorist to Pines City Doctors Hospital the passengers were released few days after the medical treatment as they experience­d minor injuries.

As of press time, Kennon Road is still temporaril­y closed.

Previously, additional road signs were sought by the provincial government of Benguet with random checkpoint­s were installed to ensure the safety of motorists.

Governor Crescencio Pacalso has earlier called the attention of DPWH to install additional signages reminding motorists to drive safely.
