ANOTHER carnival will open in the city.

As the rain-plagued Belazar Ola carnival at Burnham park winds down operation, the anticipated opening of SM City Baguio’s amusement park at Luneta Hill beckons.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan said Ola has written the city on his pullout from the park, ending the agreement forged with the city.

The Ola carnival drew flak from the public who complained of defective rides and allegations of gambling throughout the 90 day period lapsed June 5.

Rains have impeded operation of carnival rides on its

end days as well as a rejection for extension from the city council.

At the city council, Vice Mayor Edison Bilog is pushing to probe damages the carnival has wrought Burnham park.

Under the agreement with the city, the carnival was allowed to operate for 90 days and will halt as before the start of classes with a lease price of P500,000 and a 50, 000 bond paid to the city in case of damage to the park.

For the SM City amusement park however, Domogan said management has long before intimated the opening of operations at the privately owned Luneta hill property and assured it is within zoning laws despite being near the university belt of the city.

Domogan said he is sure the setup of SM City Baguio of amusement rides will be well within safety standards and quality, owing to the reputation of the giant mall chain, dubbed to be the biggest in the country.

The chief executive said the operations will also have to go through city procedures and taxes.
