BAGUIO City Police Office (BCPO) director Senior Superintendent Ramil Saculles on sought the cooperation of night market vendors in the City’s peace and order campaign particularly in efforts to ward off the threat of terrorism in the City.

In a meeting with the vendors numbering over a thousand and composed mostly of Muslim residents, Saculles said terrorism continues to be a threat worldwide and has not spared even the developed countries so the City just like any other place is vulnerable.

“Please, all I am asking of you is your cooperation and vigilance. Just inform us of any suspicious activity. It takes months or years to build a terrorist fortress. Let’s not sleep with the enemy as what happened in Marawi,” he said.

He commended the Muslim group for being cooperative so far in policing their ranks.

“But we have to sustain this with more vigilance. There should be no room for complacency. Don’t blindside us because if anything happens, everybody will suffer including you and your families,” he intoned.

Saculles said BCPO has been devoting a big security force to the night market nightly to avoid an incident like the bombing of the Davao City night market allegedly pulled off by Islamic extremists in 2016.

“This big force could have been used in other security concerns like akyat-bahay and other crimes but we are doing this to protect the night market and we will do it as long as there is night market so I hope you will also do your part,” he said.

Saculles was recently reinstalled as police head after beand
