More police visibility in remote areas
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Authorities assured people in the countryside law enforcers will be visible in the remotest areas of the region to contribute in efforts of the government in improving the perception of the people on the role of policemen in making the country a better place to live, study, work and do business.
Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana, regional director of the Cordillera office of the Police Regional Office (PRO-COR, said part of the long-term strategies of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is to ensure the presence of law enforcers in the remotest areas of the country to make the people feel that they are not neglected by the government in terms of catering to anti-criminality, antiterrorism and peacekeeping initiatives geared towards the realization of lasting peace.
The PNP and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) are celebrating Police Community Relations (PCR) month wherein numerous activities had been lined up by the national headquarters, regional, provincial, city ad municipal police stations to drum beat the celebration for the whole month of July.
Nana underscored police community relations should go beyond the celebration of PCR month considering that interacting with the people in the communities here they are assigned is one of the major duties and responsibilities of a policeman and gaining the trust and confi-
dence of the people to the law enforcers is definitely a huge task ahead for policemen working on the ground.
“The celebration of PCR month is geared towards drum beating our efforts to reach out to the people living in the different places of our areas of assignment but actually police community relations is a daily activity of our men and women in uniform,” Nana stressed.
Nana claimed the PNP had been implementing its numerous PCR programs and projects to the fullest which is one of its strategies in trying to win back the trust and confidence of the people to the police.
The region’s top cop added the PNP continuous to improve on its strategies and interventions geared towards improving their programmed PCR programs and projects to help inculcate into the minds of the people the importance of having the people work side by side with the law enforcers to thwart any untoward incident being instigated by interest individuals and groups to disrupt the peace and order situation in any part of the archipelago.
Nana emphasized people play a key role in the prevention of untoward incidents that will greatly affect the peace and situation of a community that is why it is still best for law enforcers to engage the people in the community, irregardless of whatever affiliations, for them to cooperate
