DO conducts PPST, RPMS training for teachers, school heads
THE DEPARTMENT of Education- Schools Division Office of Benguet trained 283 Teachers and School Heads on Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) and Results-Based Management System (RPMS) held at Sapid Elementary School, Sapid, Mankayan, Benguet on July 30, to August 1, 2018. The participants came from various schools in Mankayan District. Mr. Tito C. Bestre, Education Program Supervisor, EPS-ALS explained that the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) has been developed and nationally validated. This was signed into policy by Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Maria Leonor Briones through DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2017. The PPST articulates what constitutes teacher quality through welldefined domains, strands and indicators that provide measures of professional learning, competent practice and effective engagement across teachers’ career stages. This document serves as a public statement of professional accountability that can help teachers reflect on and assess their own practices as they aspire for personal growth and professional development. Mr. Warden Baltazar, EPS MAPEH and Mrs. Erlinda Quinuan Coordinating Principal of Tublay District discussed on RPMS tools, portfolio assessment annotation and self-assessment tools, classroom observation tools respectively. Participants showed their active participation through songs, chants, poems and action songs.
