- Ann C. Palaci Mary

LOO Elementary School took part in the Barangay Tree Planting at Loo Water Sheds, Balaan, Pan- ayaoan; Kitongan; and Nagutikan, Taba- ao (one of the water source of the Loo Elementary School) last August 10, 2018 with the theme, “Today’s wastage is tomorrows shortage, save the forest now for tomorrow may be too late.’’

This is a yearly activity of our selfless barangay officials aside from their monthly clean- up drive. Seedlings were directly taken at the main office of the NPC (National Power Corporation), Bokod, Benguet through the munificence of Brgy. Kgwd. Manuel Yans together with the other barangay officials a day before the scheduled tree planting activity. The seedlings bequeathed by the NPC were pine trees, melina, coffee and even fruit trees like langka, guyabano and rambutan which is 1500 seedlings in all.

The said activity was headed by the Barangay Captain Dionisio Badian with the Barangay IP Amado Poclis, Barangay Kagawads William Tiyaoan, Magno Dangpa, Salwador Walisan, Aida Salvino, Inez Lickliked, Manuel Yans and Eliseo Estocapio. Not to overlook the small but terrible SK Chairman Narlyn Dito, Brgy Treasurer Alma Walisan and Brgy. Secretary Clarisse Tosay.

With them is the motivated representatives of Loo ES, the Yes- O Club Adviser Mrs. Evelyn Totanes and four from its officers, Zhyricz Cawaing, Amado Poclis, Ed Ryan Ballatong and Norbert Gayudan. Also the dynamic BPATs Danny Madriaga, Severino Toctocan, Roberto Bela- o, Litorio Madinno, Marbin Bantolo, Cornelio Sacla and Claudio Waclin participated. Other participants were representatives from Kabalikat, 4Ps, Youth and all Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Nurses with of course Mr. Relan Santiban of the NPC.

All participants were hopeful that what each planted will grow and will contribute in the greening program of the DENR will. Everybody went home with a stirred spirit because they knew they made mother earth proud. The Yes- O club officers also understood how important it is to be a part of the environmental activities.
