Thieves strike in Benguet

THIEVES took advantage of the continuous rains brought about by the southwest monsoon carting away close to P200,000 in cash and other valuables in separate robbery

incidents. In Mankayan, Benguet, police a reported thieves destroyed the padlock of the main door of the faculty and principal office of the Guinaoang National High School as a point of entry stealing P90,308. Initial investigat­ion revealed the robbery transpired on August 23 at around 1:00 a.m. which was reported by Alfredo Pladio, married, school head of Guinaoang National High School and presently residing in Tabio, Mankayan, Benguet. school Stolen were from three the laptops worth P73,000 owned by Florence Bukong Mendoza, 31 - years - old, married and resident of Maggangan, Guinaoang, Mankayan; Rema Pasian Boguite, 38, married and resident of Guinaoang Proper, Mankayan; and by Ana Marie Julian Caramto, 37,married and resident of Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet.

Cash amounting to 17,308 were also carted away by thieves which were collection­s from school canteen, fines, projects and payments of uniforms, and personal money.

In La Trinidad, Engineer Michael Jackson Padawil Chaluyen, 30, married, contractor by profession, native of Sadanga, Mt. Province and resident of Peripin Bato, Pico, La Trinidad personally went to La Trinidad Municipal Police Station and reported an alleged robbery incident in their residence in the morning of August 20.

Chaluyen and his family were reported to have been sleeping in their room when a suspect entered their house through the unlocked sliding window.

The suspect allegedly proceeded to their room and took a green sling bag containing P89,000, BDO passbook and a check issued by East West Bank.

His wife noticed the male person going out from their room but she thought it was their first child who just came.

When the suspect noticed that someone woke up, he hurriedly went out by passing through the sliding window.

Chaluyen’s wife shouted for help waking, up Michael who tried to chase the suspect but to no avail.

According to the victim, the male suspect was wearing a black bonnet and left a black jacket and rain boots at the crime scene.

IOC processed the crime scene but no latent print was developed.
