PSC seals Batang Pinoy co-hosting with Baguio City and Benguet

BAGUIO CITY will have the province of Benguet as its co-host in this year’s staging of the Batang Pinoy National Championsh­ip on September 15 to 21.

The partnershi­p was confirmed at the signing of the memorandum of agreement between Philippine Sports Commission Commission­er Celia Kiram, Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Benguet Provincial Governor Crescencio Pacalso on Thursday, August 30.

“We are ready and we are very thankful for the PSC for choosing Baguio City and Benguet to host the Batang Pinoy national championsh­ips,” said Mayor Domogan.

Governor Pacalso echoed this sentiment and said, “it’s an honor for Benguet to be part of one of the biggest sporting event in the country.”

“The collaborat­ion will help cater to the 6,500 participat­ing athletes in Batang Pinoy. The PSC is thankful that both our co-hosts have met the requiremen­ts of the games,” said Kiram.

The national championsh­ips will have 21 sports held in Baguio City and six sports in the province of Benguet, with over 1,000 medals at stake.

The PSC’s event for in-school and out-ofschool school youth, 15-year-old and below will take place in 29 playing venues including the Baguio Athletic Bowl, Baguio swimming pool facility, University of the Philippine­s Baguio, University of the Cordillera­s gymnasium, Saint Louis University, Beneco Multi-Purpose Hall and Engineer’s Hill covered court.
