Road crashes down in La Trinidad

A DECREASE in the vehicular traffic accidents (VTA) from January to August this year was recorded by the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (LTMPS) Traffic Management Section.

Data shows from January to August in 2017,there were only 602 VTAs recorded as compared to the 825 reported last in 2016.

LTMPS head Chief Inspector Benson Macli-ing attributed the decrease in accidents to the additional signage installed and re-routing scheme in the municipali­ty.

Macli-ing said areas where accidents occur from Km. 3 to Km. 6.

With more vehicles,

the chief of police mentioned discipline of the drives remain a factor in lessening accidents.

The police office also reported VTAs resulting to physical injury decrease with 142 incidents this year while VTAs resulting to damage to property incurred 455.

However, traffic accidents resulting to homicide increased with five incidents compared to the three recorded on the same period.

Meanwhile, during Tuesday’s council session regulation of the operation of electronic operation of the traffic management system in the municipali­ty.

The installmen­t of the traffic lights in the valley seeks to effectivel­y manage the traffic woes in the town.

The La Trinidad Traffic Management Section including the members of the municipal auxiliary traffic enforcers are authorized to enforce provisions of the ordinance. Any other traffic enforcemen­t force multiplier­s authorized by the municipal mayor.
