Tanod arrested in Abra town

THE ALLEGED gunman of a riding-intandem who shot a tricycle driver was arrested in Barangay Dumayco, Pennarubia, Abra in the early morning of September 6.

Delinger Diawan Omnas, 33, barangay tanod, and a resident of Dumayco, Pennarubia was arrested After shooting Michael Buena Verzosa, 38, tricycle driver, and a resident of Zone 4, Bangued.

The suspect and victim were both drug surrendere­es of Penarubia, Abra and are undergoing drug rehabilita­tion under the Penarubia ‘KAYNGA” (an Itneg term meaning to care) Recovery and Wellness Program.

Versoza however intentiona­lly dropped out of the program.

Prior to the incident, the victim was onboard his motorcycle and was about to buy food along Natividad St., Zone 2, Bangued when two male suspects riding-in-tandem suddenly shot him.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to the Abra Provincial hospital for medical treatment while the suspects immediatel­y escaped.

Investigat­ion revealed the suspect and the victim had an altercatio­n while playing basketball a few days before the shooting incident.

SOCO team who processed the crime scene recovered one slug and one fired cartridge from a caliber .45 pistol.

Bangued Municipal Police Station (MPS) conducted a speedy investigat­ion and hot

pursuit operations which resulted in the arrest of Omnas who is now under the custody of Bangued MPS, while a case of frustrated homicide was filed.

Two riding-in- tandem was also arrested at Patucanay, Bangued, in the morning of August 31.
