Tabuk to put-up P20M disaster operation center
CITY, Kalinga - In a bid to provide ready response and relief assistance in times of calamities, the city government had proposed a P20-million emergency operation center project.
Tabuk City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer (CDRRMO) Christian Luyaben informed the proposed project is included in the 2019 development plan of the city. This is envisioned to be provided with trained personnel and needed equipments to assure immediate response action.
Right now, the city maintains a 24/7 emergency response center temporarily housed at the CDRRMO.
Aside from disaster response, the CDRRMO also provides assistance to road mishap victims and is involved in the city’s dengue pre
vention efforts.
Citing the principle ‘the one most prepared is the one most prevented’, the CDRRMO regularly holds flood, fire and earthquake simulation drills as part of its disaster preparedness drives.
Luyaben said their office has strengthened communitybased disaster response groups at the barangays as frontline responders.
Here, people especially those living near the Chico River are taught of the importance of preemptive evacuation at the same time barangay officials are educated on disaster response action protocol.
