Comelec ends voters registration
COMMISSION on Elections - Baguio noted a big turn - out in registrants during the last week of registration in the city.
At the last day of registration, City Election Supervisor lawyer John Paul Martin said the commission will only be open from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon.
“We will not be extending the time and the days for registration since the three month allocation for registration have been given. We will have to follow schedule of the commission which would be the final listing of voters to be followed by the filing of candidacies of prospective candidates for the May elections,” Martin said.
Comelec Baguio will accommodate voters who will undergo biometric procedures in preparation for the 2019 national and local elections.
The commission will accept applications for new registration, transfer/ transfer with reactivation, reactivation, change/correction of entry and inclusion/ reinstatement of records in the list of voters.
The electoral tribunal will also accept reactivation for previously registered voters whose voting records have been deactivated for failure to vote in two consecutive national regular elections while transfers are for previously registered voters who wish to transfer their registration records to a different city or municipality or to a different address within the same city or municipality.
“Transfers with reactivation are for deactivated voters who wish to transfer their registration records to a different city or municipality or to a different address within the same city or municipality,” Martin explained.
Inclusion or reinstatement of records in the list of voters applies to those who have been ordered by the Courts to be included in the list of voters (inclusion), or those who have recently reacquired their right to vote after having been stripped of political rights as a consequence of a conviction.
