Election fever on

ASPIRING government officials are asked to file their Certificat­e of Candidacy from October 11 to 17, stated Commission on Elections.

Baguio-Benguet Comelec Election Supervisor Attorney Elenita Capuyan added the COC filing has been moved from October 1 – 5 to October 11 – 17 in connection to the May 2019 national and local elections.

“These periods are no longer extendible,” disclosed Capuyan.

Although there are no current data, Capuyan added there will be more expected

candidates to file this year for Baguio and Benguet.

“Mas marami ngayon because there are other people who want to aspire to become government official. There are others aside from the traditiona­l that want to enter the political field,” she added.

In lieu of the national and local elections on May 2019, positions up for grabs in the local level comprised of provincial governors to the city and municipal councilors, mayor and vice mayor and Senate and House of Representa­tives in the national level.

Election officers in the province and Baguio convened on Friday in preparatio­n of the upcoming COC filing and May polls. With ample time to reflect, the election supervisor said filing of COCs are scheduled 8 am to 5pm except Saturdays and Sundays.

Following the COC, expected lists of running officials are available October 18.

Election period begins January 19 while campaign period will start on March 30 to May 11, 2019 in the local level and February 12 to May 11 in the national level for the automated elections next year.
