65-year-old woman trailblaze­s in Am-among run

Mountain Province – A 65-year old woman was the oldest runner who started and finished the 22 Kilometer distance during the Am-among Trail Run which culminates the 110th Bontoc Foundation Day and 14th Am-among Festival recently.

Paula Acofo, the oldest runner among the 115 registered mountain trail runners and enthusiast­s who completed the Am-among Trail Run, where runners ran along the mountain trails and hills and toured to the different tourist attraction­s in the villages of Bontoc.

Zendrac Dave Fagsao emerged as the champion as he only took 42 minutes to complete the six kilometer run while Anthony Fawagan came in second with, Rogerson Sacyaten, Vican Farnican and Sydney Ing-inga completing the top five finishers.

Aura Parongong bested the other runners in the female category with Marilou Pacyaan coming in at second as Juralee Gallardo, Izzy Cheska Paydowan, and Tanny Fe Sokoken making it to the top five.

For the age group category, Jemaine Baaten topped the six to 15 years old category; Warlin Dogui-is in the 16 to 30 years old bracket, and Janet Fachafad in the 31 to 45 years old category.

For the 12 Kilometer, Vinson Ramos took home the top purse as Remuel Agpawon, Waynerick Lazaro, Aldrin Balinggao and Godfrey Farnican finished in the top five.

Roxanne Roxas meanwhile top the distaff side as Charmaine Pablo, Gawani Gaungen, Vanessa Ngallawen, and Zarah Marie Maddul completed top five.

Michael Langaoan, Jr., Carlos Afidchao and Gener Gansuen where the different winners in the six to 15 years old, 16 to 30 years old and 31 to 45 years old, respective­ly.

In the 22 Kilometer race, Charlie Guzman bagged the over-all champion with George Gonzales coming in at second as Jephunneh Anengyao finished third while Chester Nicod-am and Jarret Jesco Ospig came in fourth and fifth respective­ly.

Flore Marie Khensay meanwhile topped the women’s contest edging Marcelina Ongan who came in second, as Fe Singlot, Sharon May Paydowan, and Johanna Gail Bustarde completed the top five.

Romel Fecha meanwhile took home the title under the the 3145 years old age category in the 22 kilometer race.

Special Awards were also given to fiveyear-old John Tracy Patayec as the youngest runner and Acofo.
