Dalog son eyes MP’s Congressio­nal seat

AT LEAST seven candidates will vie for the vacant Congressio­nal seat in the Mountain Province.

The son and namesake of the late Congressma­n Maximo Dalog, Lawyer Maximo Jr. has filed his certificat­e of candidacy for the 2019 midterm elections under the Nacionalis­ta Party.

Dalog will challenge six others including Tadian Mayor Anthony Wooden of PDP Laban, Avelino Amangyen (independen­t), Jupiter Dominguez (independen­t) Jonathan Harder (People’s Reform Party), Albert Paday-os (independen­t), and Allen Ocden (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas).

In the race for the province' top post, incumbent Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. of PDP Laban will seek a fresh term against Mateo Chiyawan(LPP), Harry Dominguez, Eduardo Latawan Jr. (independen­t), Magellan Limliman (PDDS) and Antonio Grupo Jr. (Aksyon Demokratik­o).

Vice Governor Francis Tauli of PDP Laban will also seek

against Ezra Samson Gomez (LDP) and Raul Lapon (independen­t).

Fourteen will vie for a seat in the first district of the provincial board while eight others seek office in the second district.

In the Province of Kalinga, incumbent Governor Jocel Baac (PDP Laban) is set to face incumbent Congressma­n Sonny Mangaoang (Nacionalis­ta Party) for the congressio­nal position.

A four cornered fight will be seen in the gubernator­ial position with independen­t candidate Loretto Banosan squaring off against James Edduba (Lakas CMD), incumbent Tabuk City Mayor Ferdie Tubban (PDP Laban) and Conrado Dieza (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas).

The vice gubernator­ial position will also have a four cornered fight between Antonio Bakilan and Dwahgan Claver both from the PDP Laban, aside from Daniel Langkit of the Liberal party and Dave Odiem coming of the Nacionalis­ta party.

Thirteen candidates have filed their candidacie­s as board members for the first district and eight for the second district of Kalinga.

In Apayao Province, incumbent Governor Elias Bulut Jr. of the NPC and incumbent Congresswo­man Begtang Bulut of the PDP Laban will run unopposed as representa­tive and governor respective­ly.

Incumbent Vice Governor Remy Albano of the Liberal Party is also running unopposed.

Four candidates filed their candidacie­s for board members of the first district and another four for the second district.

In Ifugao, five candidates for eye the congressio­nal post with Atty. Eugene Balitang against Dolomon Chungalao, Jonathan Cuyahon, Timmy Mondiguing and incumbent Governor Pedro Mayamo.

Congressma­n Teddy Baguilat Jr. of the Liberal Party meanwhile dips into the gubernator­ial race against Jerry Dalipog (National Unity Party) and Jose Gallitiw of the PDP Laban.

Three have also filed their candidacie­s for the Vice Governator­ial position with Partido Federal ng Pilipinas candidate Victor Bunnol Jr., James Dulnuan (PDP Laban) and Glenn Prudencian­o (Liberal Party).

16 candidates have given their interest in running as board members for the first provincial district while 11 filed for the second district.
