In the afternoon, the participan­ts graced the launch of the Sentro Katutubo, the head office of KX Philippine­s and home of the Museo Katutubo then proceeded to Casili Elementary School for cultural workshops to the pupils and teachers and installed the Katutubo gallery where IP photos were put up and displayed for the students and teachers to use.

The delegation visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site Paoay Church and were awed by its grandeur and rendered an evening of Philippine indigenous performanc­es to the locals of the heritage town at the site itself.

Day two was another interestin­g day for the delegates. They met in person and interacted with National Living Treasure Magdalena Gamayo and her weavers. Abel is a local textile made of cotton thread fabricated with the use of wooden loom. A lunch program was held at the weaving center hosted by Mayor Samuel Pagdilao Sr. with other Pinili LGU officials. At the nearby town of Nueva Era, the delegates continued showcasing and teaching their indigenous culture this time around with the Tinggian indigenous community held at the scenic and serene Eco-Cultural Park and did community dancing.

Capping off the cultural exchange program was with a visit to the Historic Town of Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where delegates did a flash mob and the site visitors joined in for some dance steps and snapshots. Katutubo Exchange was concluded with a lecture and workshop at the National Museum Ilocos Region to celebrate the National Museums & Galleries Month as well to students, teachers, media, museum personnel and other guests. Each of every participan­t were awarded with certificat­es of participat­ion with a word of gratefulne­ss from adult leader Maria Seraida Caga saying, “the program has touched the hearts of the young katutubo delegates giving them opportunit­y to explore and grow with their own indigenous culture.”

THE City Council during last Monday’s regu lar session has approved on first reading significan­t proposals. The new measures introduced and referred to the proper committees include a proposed ordinance by Vice Mayor Edison Bilog entitled “Prohibitin­g the use of lead-coated paint brushes and other non-food grade utensils in the preparatio­n of food in the City of Baguio”. Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr., chairman of the Committee on Market Trade and Commerce proposal entitled “Establishi­ng the Search for the Most child-Friendly Public Schools Award in the City of Baguio”.

Meanwhile Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Planning chairman and Councilor Edgar Avila had five new proposed ordinances. This include “An ordinance declaring Assessment Real Property No. (ARPN) 01-01002-40327 measuring 49,620 square meters, more or less located at Pinsao Proper Barangay as relocation site for displaced settlers of Cabinet Hill, Teachers Camp Barangay as well as victims of typhoon Ompong along Lions Head and as site of a low cost housing project of the National Housing Authority (NHA) for qualified housing beneficiar­ies of the said areas in the City of Baguio and for other purposes”, He also filed “An ordinance declaring ARPN 01-01002-42173 measuring 129,414 square meters, more or less located at Irisan Barangay as the new public cemetery of the city and providing guidelines for its use, operation and maintenanc­e, including the collection of fees and charges and imposition of penalties for violations thereof and for other purposes”.

Other proposed ordinances he filed and has something to do with land use include “An ordinance declaring ARPN 01-01002-42173 measuring 51,209 square meters, more or less located at Pinsao Proper Barangay and/or ARPN 2013-06018-130827 measuring 64,797 square meters, more or less located at Loakan Proper, as site of a low cost socialized housing project of the NHA and/or any other government agency for qualified housing beneficiar­ies in the City”, Proposed Ordinance Nr. 0207-18 entitled “An ordinance imposing the twenty percent (20%) socialized housing share from developers of condominiu­ms, subdivisio­ns and other real estate endeavors” and Proposed Ordinance Nr. 0208-18 entitled “An ordinance providing for comprehens­ive and continuing developmen­t program for the urban poor sector and appropriat­ing funds for the purpose. the behavior of the system is changed if they leave it. This organized assembly of components does something. This assembly as a whole has been identified by someone who is interested in it.
