Four injured in road mishap
FOUR persons were injured when a passenger bus coming from Baguio City accidentally hit a truck parked at a road shoulder along the Aspiras – Palispis Highway (Marcos Highway) in Barangay Palina, Pugo, La Union at around 4:10 a.m. on October 25.
Senior Inspector James Acod of the Tuba Municipal Police Station said the
bus was driven by Mario Camaso, 47 – years – old, and a resident of Bolinao, Pangasinan.
Acod said the bus was traversing the highway when it accidentally hit the parked truck with no warning device.
The injured were identified as Rodrigo Ordonio, 56, of Barangay Tay-ac, Rosario-La Union, and Jimmy Padilan, 25, of Barangay P. Burgos, Baguio City
Both rushed to the La Union Medical Center in Agoo by members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC).
The other victims were Basilia Baluca Cachin, 60, from Santa Barabara, Pangasinan and Jackilyn Crisostomo Magayanes, 32, from Baguio City who were both rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
Acod meanwhile warned motorist plying the Aspiras – Palispis Highway to be wary of the ‘no parking on both sides of the road’ starting from the viaduct in Sitio Badiwan to Sitio Kadmangan, in Tuba.
The no parking was implemented due to the series of accidents and traffic jam in the area.
Acord said the stretch of the highway has seen the worst situations in the past months with the temporary closure of the 33-kilometer Kennon Road due to a series of raincaused landslides.
Acod also advised light vehicles bound for Baguio may pass thru the newly opened Tubao (La Union) – Asin (Baguio) Road which exits at Barangay San Roque.
