1,000 Baguio indigents benefit from medical outreach
MORE than 1,000 indigents benefited from an outreach program of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCCI) in Barangay Bakakeng over the weekend.
Peter Ng, president of FCCCI-Baguio, on Monday said medical, dental and optical services were provided to indigent residents of District 14, which is composed of 10 barangays. Free medicines and eyeglasses were also given to the patients.
“Kasiyahan din namin ang makatulong sa kapuwa, na kahit kami ay abala sa mga negosyo ay naglalaan kami ng oras at pinansyal para sa mga programa sa ating mga mahihirap na ka-
babayan sa lungsod,” Ng said.
He added the medical outreach is a regular activity of the FCCCI, implemented by the local chapters.
“Alam namin na may mga kababayan tayo na nangangailangan ng tulong medikal kaya patuloy naming ginagawa ang mga programang ganito,” Ng said, adding that the beneficiaries are hard-up in seeking medical attention.
Ng, who is also a member of the Lions Club, said the outreach activity was participated in by other members of the 13 Lions Clubs in the city that each provided services, doctors and volunteers who attended to the patients.
A certain "Linda", one of the beneficiaries from Barangay Crystal Cave, said : “Malaking tulong ito sa kagaya kong mahirap na makunsulta ang aking sakit na diabetes, pati ang dalawa kong anak na libreng napabunot ang sirang ngipin at nakapag pacheck-up ng sakit na asthma,”
