THE BOY Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines celebrates October as Scouting Month. The Atok Municipal Government and DepEd – Atok District joins them in their celebration with the Scout Officials for a Day (SOFAD) last October 22, 2018 at the Atok Municipal Hall.

This year’s theme is “Leadership Begins with Attitude”. Municipal officials and employees, school heads, troop leaders, scouts and parents came to grace the program.

Selected junior boy and girl scouts of the different elementary schools in Atok were given the chance to assume the duties of the municipal officials from the mayor to the members of the sangguniang bayan and the heads of the different offices for one day. Alyssa Grace B. Tiw-ac of Camp 30 Elementary School is this year’s mayor and Glendon G. Bangsi-el of Topdac Elementary School is the vice mayor.

Prior to the said activity, a screening was conducted among the selected scouts to identify their positions. They have undergone interview, quiz bee, drills, and group dynamics.

Their participation in the different scouting activities were also evaluated.

The scout who earned the highest points took the highest position.

As future leaders of our country, this is an opportunity for them to experience how to be an official and a head of an office even just for a day. It is also another avenue of learning for them.

During the opening program, Mayor Peter B. Alos challenged the scouts to study harder and if possible finish their education for this will be their tool for a brighter future.

Before the activity ended, SOFAD SB Secretary Frahleen Mae Olida of Caliking Elementary School presented the resolution made by the SOFAD Sangguniang Members and was accepted by Vice Mayor Angelito T. Galao Sr.

All the scouts were also given cash incentives. For the scouts, the experience they have during this SOFAD will not be forgotten.
