13 remain missing in Natonin

THIRTEEN individual­s are still listed missing by the combined force of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) com-

mand post stationed in Natonin, Mountain Province.

Novy Afidchao , Mountain Province Public Informatio­n Officer said as of 12:00 noon of November 7,2018, the missing were identified as Esther Galong of Besao, Mountain Province, Randy Sayod of Villavicio­sa, Abra, Inocencio Galingoy of Harang, Banawel, Eddie Galahya, Reggie Tayag, Jonathan Ngilin, Obaldo Guihawan, Linson Palichang, all from Ubao, Aguinaldo, Joven Galongan Bucan, Leobel Orchihon, Jonathan Bunhian Gano all from Aguinaldo, Rolando San Guillermo Cristobal from Isabela, and Noel “Kawit” Lanna Alvester from Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Rescuers continue the search, rescue and retrieval in the landslide which collapsed the building of the Department of Public Works and Highways – Mountain Province 2nd Engineerin­g District Office at Sitio Hakrang, Barangay Banawel.

Afidchao also reported the body retrieved from ground zero on November 5 was identified as Jerry Arenas (Baguio City) of Moment Diagram Constructi­on.

At least two bodies are still being identified as of press time which was brought to Carbonel Funeral Parlor Service in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao.

To date, fifteen bodies have already retrieved, identified and claimed namely Joel Arevalo, Gregorio Castro, Juanita Longan, Virginia Malucay, Coyugan Catet, John Tenmacheg, Jerry Epan,

Raymundo Ngilin, Benito Longan, JunJun Laron, Elberto"Berto" C a n o , Reynato"Pablo" Ayom, Gary Hecyawan, Rogelio Alubong, Rogelio including that of Arenas while two cadavers are yet to be identified and are counted as retrieved but not reflected in the list of missing persons until identified and confirmed.

Earlier, Natonin Mayor Mateo Chiyawan asked to stop the rescue and retrieval operations by Friday this week but Civil Defense Administra­tor and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Executive Director Ricardo Jalad convinced the mayor adding more rescuers is set to relieve the responders.

The rescuers who have relieved the initial responders came from Region 2 and additional teams equipped with rescue and retrieval facilities will be joining in the operation to speed up the ongoing search, rescue and retrieval.
