Atok Athletes Participate in the 2018 District Athletic Meet

Athletes from the 17 public elementary schools of Atok District gathered last November 8-10 at Celo Haight Elementary School, Sayangan, Atok, Benguet for the 2018 District Athletic Meet. This year’s theme is “Championing the Spirit of Young Atok Athletes”.

The games played were volleyball, football, sepatakraw Jr., badminton, table tennis, chess and track and field events.

A solidarity meeting for all the tournament managers, chief referees, officiating officials and coaches was held during the first day. The aim of this meeting is to discuss and agree the game rules and format and to prepare the ramification of the games for each event.

The parade and the opening program were done during the second day which were participated by the municipal officials and barangay officials headed by the municipal mayor, Hon. Peter B. Alos, PNP personnel headed by PCI Ruben M. Labutan, and the different delegations headed by their school heads and PTA presidents.

The awarding of medals to the winners in each event was done during the scheduled time. The overall champion this year is Topdac Elementary School followed by the 1st Runner up Mauro P. Laruan ES, 2nd Runner up Caliking ES, 3rd Runner up Caguiing ES and 4th Runner up Adoyunan ES. Meanwhile, a search for the Clean and Safe Camp was also conducted where Adoyunan ES won the 1st place followed by Bosleng ES, Rufino Alawas ES, Calasipan ES and Bonglo ES. The prizes for this search were sponsored by Mrs. Olivia T. Astudillo.

The selected athletes for each event will be representing Atok in the 2018 Benguet Provinicial Athletic Meet at La Trinidad on December 3-8, 2018.
