UB student lauded as world leader

A HIGH school student has been recognized for his leadership.

Baguio city councilors extended congratula­tions to Jef Mitzel Bulaon Paran for having been awarded the Most Outstandin­g Delegate of World Trade Organizati­on, Asia World Model United Nations ll.

On a motion by Councilor Mylen Yaranon, adopted by the entire legislativ­e body during Monday’s regular session, councilors agreed to laud the feat by Paran when he attended the internatio­nal event.

Paran is an incumbent Sk Kagawad of Baranagay Trancovill­e and a grade 12 student of the University of Baguio Science High School.

“Paran’s achievemen­t sets an example for the youth to emulate and merits the utmost recognitio­n and praise from the city government of Baguio,” the resolution of commendati­on read.

Paran was a scout – for – a – day and stood as chairperso­n of the committee on public works, under the office of Yaranon.

The Asia World Model United Nations is a platform where youth mentality, negotiatio­n and diplomacy will be developed in Model United Nations. It aims to engage youth leaders from all over the world and to provide a platform to share perspectiv­es in opinions with this year’s theme “The World’s Dilemma: Enhancing World Action on Climate Change.”

Some 193 countries participat­ed at the Asia World Model United Nations ll which was held January 30 - February 2, 2019 at Bangkok Thailand.

The event is a place for the youth to enhance capabiliti­es and encourage young leaders to develop networks, and improve their communicat­ion skills and diplomatic skills.
